1
Selection of strains

The Doux Group selects the best poultry from species known for their meat and outstanding taste. These strains are chosen with great care, following Group specifications and quality criteria, in a decades-long partnership with one of the world leaders in this area: the Hubbard company.

2
Production of feed

One hundred percent of animal feed is produced by the Doux Group. With the help of an outside advisor, the Nutrition Service determines the nutritional range. This feed is 100% plant-based and diversified, hormone-free and rich in vitamins and minerals; it has been studied to provide perfect poultry growth and guarantees the tastiness and high nutritional value of Doux poultry meat.

3
Reproduction

The Doux Group has 27 internal reproduction farms, where breeder chickens and roosters are raised. These farms are isolated and under strict supervision by the French veterinary and food safety administration. Traceability is ensured throughout the process.

4
Incubation

The Group incubates all hatching eggs; this means that 177 million eggs must be tended each year in the company’s two internal hatcheries.

These two hatcheries follow a quality chart that has been applied for twenty years to guarantee proper hygiene and ensure good health for chicks.

5
Breeding

Doux raises its chickens on farms that are for poultry only; they are located in western France at the heart of a major agricultural region. Five hundred breeders, including 300 breeder partners, tend the birds and feed them with natural feed produced by the Group. Poultry is raised according to the strictest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. To be certified, breeders must meet the criteria of the Group’s Health and Environment Charter, which has been implemented since 1999.

6
Transport

33 trucks are exclusively dedicated to transporting poultry from the breeding farms to the Group’s production sites. They are tracked by computer to provide real-time control of optimal transport conditions.

7
Slaughter

Animal welfare is taken into account throughout the production process, especially at slaughtering time at one of the Group’s three dedicated sites. For the Doux brand, which is for export only, the Group has practiced halal slaughtering for over fifty years. Placed under the control of an independent halal certifier, application of the halal rite is ensured by some thirty “ritual sacrificers”.

8
Packaging

Poultry is packaged before freezing for optimal conservation throughout shipping, all the way to the plates of Doux customers.

Chickens are frozen less than one hour after slaughter; this guarantees extreme freshness, tender meat and an exceptional bacteriological quality.

9
Shipping

The transporters in charge of shipping products follow very strict specifications concerning the maintenance of the cold chain. Chickens are transported in insulated containers supplied with sensors that track the temperature throughout shipping and until the products are made available to clients in a broad distribution network.

10
Sales

Doux Group poultry is sold through exclusive distributors that the company has build a solid relationship with over several years. They share the Doux goals of excellence and high standards concerning quality, hygiene and taste.
